The Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI) is a unique university aiming at fostering first class researchers through doctoral course programs by taking full advantage of the rich research environment and talent available at its affiliate Inter-University Research Institutes (or IURIs). SOKENDAI also assumes the mission to break novel ground in the interdisciplinary research field. In order to fulfill the mission, new educational programs are implemented as a model case through the collaboration of multiple departments and different schools. Remote lecture delivery systems will be used to enable students in remote locations to attend lectures in the same manner as in real lecture rooms.
